Working on the RRJ for Spare Parts: Four Undocumented Teenagers, One Ugly Robot, and the Battle of the American Dream, are assignments that helps us think in depth of the book. This influenced me in thinking of politics and how there are people that are fighting for the American Dream, and immigration is a big issue. For example, Oscar, is a smart student, and he had risk a lot as he is an immigrant himself. Once he finished high school, he went to Arizona State University, and graduated. He has a good future ahead of him, but the plot twist is when he was still scared to be deported anytime, so he left the United States, and went back to his home country not knowing the environmental situation around him. Comparing to high school to college, the readings are not too challenging as of now. I had read many books in my Junior and Senior year that seems much difficult than the novels I’m reading in college. Although these readings aren’t too challenging, I have annotated even more, just because we’re directed to annotate. Even in math, I had to annotate word problems, not because I want to annotate, it’s because we were directed to. Annotating was the key to success, especially for English class where there are some challenging reading levels, annotating is a lifesaver. I’m easily to be distracted while reading and when I regain focus I’d forget what I read, and lose crucial time. Therefore, annotating will help me regain focus if I forget what I read.
