Eight weeks in Sociology 1 class. It was an interesting class with lots of obstacles to face in throughout the eight weeks. This was a refreshing moment where I took an academic break in the Spring 2017 semester, and came back in the summer 2017 semester. Sure, it was a nice break, but it was hard to balance out school, work, and social life as I wasn't comfortable enough. I knew I was in for a challenge when I began with the online class. In the beginning of the semester, I was well driven to the assignments, but in the mid semester, I felt that lag and overwhelming parts towards the assignments. I feel that every week, there are more and more assignments. I was overwhelmed that time was running out, but I wasn't ready to give up. I had improved my time management skills by sticking my schedule where we created in the 168 Hour assignment. I'm those types of students that would like to have personal interaction between professors and students. I feel that the online interaction was tedious. I had many technical issues towards this course with submitting assignments. I'm more old fashioned with handing in assignments without the use of technology. When we were assigned to work on a Powerpoint, it was by far my hardest obstacle to conquer, because when I hear the word "Powerpoint" I think of going in front of the class and showing my presentation to the professor and students. My strength I had built since my senior year of high school is verbally elaborating to the topic. Elaborating in written form was difficult. Eventually, I conquered that with lots of patience and research. This class gave me knowledge that will help me with my major. I'm a psychology major with an emphasis on social behaviors. Sociology plays a role to my major because with the problems people face and talk about it, can also play many roles connecting through sociology. Through the statistics I've seen each week, opens up and increase the effectiveness of research. The topics were very interesting in the effects towards people's lives. Even though psychology and sociology overlaps a little bit, I hope that it eases through for future references.
