This expedition had them prepared with many resources in case disaster strikes. Coronado and his team reached to Cibola also known as Fray de Niza. There had been some altercation towards wanting wealth, therefore risked many lives in order to be greedy. It was unsuccessful that eventually they moved forward to the journey, and people went into their separate ways. People that followed Coronado are still in search for wealth in the East side, while the other groups are making military observations in regions of the Colorado Plateau. The group that decided to reconnoiter with Alacon’s ship was lead by Pedro de Tovar. Tovar did plan some time to meet back with Coronado and his group, but it never happened. Tovar did lead the group to the Hopi tribe, and was welcomed there, afterwards it changed up to Diaz in guiding them for another journey. They eventually named a river and felt their journey was completed, and then sailed back to Corazones. Coronado’s group had went to El Turco also known as Quivara, but things didn’t work well in meeting their needs. Some of his men had quit because of their high hopes of wealth. With that, Coronado resigned his commission as governor of New Galacia, and his name and reputation he leaves into being unknown. In your opinion would you agree or disagree that Coronado did this journey over for greed? Why or why not? |
In this assignment, we take a trip down to The Coronado Expedition. From this assignment, it had opened up to a new learning environment. I do not recalling learning about the Coronado Expedition back in my high school AP class. Learning about this had made me feel like an empty gap has filled up. This was an interesting history reading, and I enjoyed to what I learned out of this assignment. With the Coronado Expedition, this had shown lessons on prioritizing goals and sticking in as a team. They could've done better to be able to call a land theirs, but with many last minute shifts, leads to complications.
